Times are tough for the demon, Temptation. Once he enjoyed his work enticing humans to sin so their souls could be marked for collection. Now no one needs inducement from him. Lying, stealing, and cheating, has become the mortal's way.
This tiny gold-mining town in northern California and the bar he has just entered appear as corrupt as all the other places he has visited. But he soon learns he has overstepped his bounds and must now find a way to free the souls of the wrongfully damned.

This story is based around a demon, Temptation, and his job is to do exactly what his name states. He roams earth, trying to tempt humans into sin. If a human gives in to the sin, their soul is marked for the Collector, another demon. But Temptation has grown jaded about his job, and forces sin on humans instead of letting them choose. An angel of war visits him, and informs him that he has to right his wrongs or the ultimate war will wage, bring an end to everything, including Temptation. Why would Temptation need to exist if there are no humans left to tempt?I'll have to admit, I was going to pass on this book. The cover was intriguing, and as I read through the reviews I was accosted with a spoil sport review. You know, someone didn't like the book so they left a spoiler review without a warning.
I'm glad that I decided to read it even after the spoiler. The book was a little choppy for me, and the dialog seemed forced in some areas, but over all I thought it was a decent story. It was something different, and that is what I'm always looking for. The book is written from first person POV with chapters alternating between Sunset, a bar owner, and Temptation (Sam), a demon. I think I would have like it better if it would have been completely written from Temptation's POV; he had a child-like quality to his personality as he struggled with new emotions.
This book was the first of a series called The Soul Collection Series, I will be looking for the next one.

This book was a great read. Loved the story line and was surprised at the twist in the story, not what I thought it would be. Very well written, holds your interest and not to dark of a read. Can't waite for the next book. Definetly worth every penny!! Congratulations Tina, another hit in my book!

The demon Temptation has unknowingly broken the rules and must set things right or risk a war. Temptation must convince the Collector to release the souls of the wrongfully marked but he refuses. The Devil wants the war to break out and the Collector is to see to it but when Temptation refuses to let this happen the collector punishes him by turning him human. No longer the demon Temptation but Sam the human the chaos of human emotions are overwhelming and with nowhere to go he's not sure how he will survive. Then the kind and pure hearted Sunset takes him in. She runs a bar in a small town left to her by her father when he passed away and offers Sam room and board for work around the bar. Sunset is instantly attracted to Sam the mysterious stranger and the more Sam is around her the more he begins to develop feelings for her. Then the Collector decides his punishment isn't severe enough and brings his demon back. He is now Temptation and Sam in one body and this is when we get a bit of Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde thing going on until their agreement to not give in to the Collector brings them to unite. Frustrated the Collector decides that Sunset with her pure heart and the feelings Sam has for her the Collector wants her soul or her death. Sam will do neither, but the Collector has other ways of getting what he wants....
This is a good, quick, entertaining read. It takes place in a small town with your typical nice girl, the town jerk who's obsessed with her and the mysterious stranger who wins her heart. The main characters were good and chapters switch between Temptation/Sam and Sunset. The Collector was interesting, I enjoyed his evilness and I liked Sunsets best friend, Anna Mae, who was funny, bold and tough.

Some parts of the story can be slightly confusing for some depending on your beliefs on the meaning of pure souls, temptations, sins, etc., since the boundaries aren't very clear. Like with the intimate scene between Sam and Sunset which never really went anywhere because of an unexpected interruption. If lust is a sin then the Collectors job could have been completed simply by allowing that scene to play out, boom, he could mark her soul and call it a job well done and on with the war which would have made sense given Sam is the demon of Temptation. What didn't quite make sense and was a bit out of character for me was why would Temptation try to physically harm Sunset when in control of Sam's body? Why not continue with his tempting? Yet why would he do either if it gives the Collector the upper hand? And would the Collector really let a chance to mark Sunsets soul pass by just so he could torture Sam with her death instead? Hmm, so there are some things that raise questions, but if you take it as it is it's a pretty good read. I did expect it to be a little darker but I really enjoyed it and the whole thing with the demons Temptation and the Collector were entertaining and intriguing. I love the cover and I would gladly read the next one which might focus on new characters since Sam and Sunsets journey seemed to come to a satisfying close...at least for now.
I liked this book alot. Great story that kept you guessing as to what was going to happen next. Looking forward to the next one in the series. Great job!!
I very much enjoyed this book, I had a hard putting it down and am looking forward to more in the series.
Loved the character & concept found in the demon Temptation. Temptation along with his romance with Sunset make for a great read. Good & evil, war & peace, life & death and more make their play within the pages of this book and only true love shall win in the end. The book is short, very well written with a great, full story line. Now waiting for the release of Book II, Souls To Keep.
